Want to change my field to IT !!!, need advise please

Hello Hitech guys
I am a ILR holder in UK. I wish to enter in to IT field but have not much idea about it, also I am not into programming stuff. Could you hi tech guys let me know what would be the best IT language I should study, I am into medical engg now, would prefer something which has hardware as well.
