Settlement visa under new rules

Post by Dee78 » Tue Jun 19, 2012 7:54 am

I have been in a relationship with my fiance in the UK for 2 years, i had to go back to my country as my visa was expiring. We have decided to get married before the end of the year as we are awaiting his divorce to be finalised, now the new rules, he doesnt meet the minimum requirements thus we cant apply before the 9 july.

This is devastating, how can they play with people's private lives and future! Does it mean if you have a job not earning the minimum requirement, you are not allowed to fall in love and want to marry! You do not choose who you fall in love with and who in this economic condition has over £20,000 of savings!

Dee78, it is very sad, isn't it!

I suggest that he contacts his MP, as a matter of urgency, and tells him/her what you have posted above.

Would the new rules still apply, if i get married outside Uk, a non-eu country, then apply for the spouse visa. Sounds a bit of a silly question but doesnt hurt to ask as I am trying to find all sorts of ways to marry my fiance and go back to UK to live with him

Any new application under family route after 08-Jul-12 will be subject to the new rules .. irrespective of whether it is made within the UK or abroad.
