Can I travel with my British husband on spousal visa

Post by USComplicatedSituation » Tue Feb 19, 2013 7:17 am

Dear Forum,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my question. I have spent endless hours trying to find an answer to my questions and finally gave up.

My husband (to be) is British and I'm American. After we marry, we will apply for a spousal visa from the US so that I can move to London with him. Our complication, however, is that he is a performing artist and travels around the globe performing. Of course, as a newly married couple, I want to tour with him as much as possible. However, in counting the number of days he will out of the UK, it is about 200 days. I've heard conflicting advice online that on a spousal visa I cannot be out of the UK for more than 90 days? I ultimately want to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain and then become a naturalised citizen. I don't want to do anything now that would jepordize that in the future. I know for the last three years before I apply for citizenship, there are strict travel restictions but I wasn't sure if there are any restrictions now that I should be aware of. I would hate to be away from him for more than four months in one year.

Any thoughts would be greatly valued!
