got the fiancee visa, she's arrived (hoora!), what's next?

Post by exjennyaddict » Sat Jan 13, 2007 11:16 am

My fiancee has just arrived in the UK on a fiancee visa, as far as I understand we now have to wait seven days before we can register at the local registrar's office. They put our name's on the wall for a further fifteen days and then.... I have no idea. We need to send off her visa to someone, probably with the marriage certificates and so on but I really don't know what or where or who, blah blah blah. Sorry. I googled but didn't have much joy and the people on this website have been soooooo helpful in answering my questions until now.

many thanks,

richard

Then they issue the needed permission to marry .... and the two of you proceed to get married! That permission to marry is valid for 12 months but clearly the two of you want to get married before the expiry of the fiancée visa.

When the two of you go to the Register Office to give the Notice of Intention to Marry, if you intend to get married at that Register Office you can make a booking at the same time.

After the marriage has happened it is necessary to use form FLR(M) to apply for the 2-year spouse visa. From that form you will see the application fee is currently £335 by post or £500 in person at a PEO. Those are the current fees. However all visa fees, both inside and outside the UK, are liable to change as from April, so unless the two of you intend to get married soon, the fees might be different when you apply.

The new fee levels from April? Anyone's guess!
