Visit Visa for Family of British Citizen

Post by mdip » Thu May 16, 2013 9:15 pm

Hi All,

I'm a British Citizen with my wife and Child. I recently lost a job but got a part time job since last 8 months. So, I'm on social benefit (Working Tax credit, Child Tax Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit).

I've my elderly "Mum" (around 75 years old) back home. My father passed away 5 years back. However, my mum has got a business partnership with my married sister and her husband (brother in law) and they all leaving together. Business turn over more than £1.5 million per year.

My mum wishes to visit me for couple of months on her own expenses. Can she still apply on Family Visitor Visa or something else. If so, then my earnings don't support for sponsor my mum but she could still live with my place.

My question is for "If my mum wishes to pay her own expenses during staying with me then could she get family visit visa or not? or what type of documents do I need to produce to support my mum visit to UK.

I really appreciate for your suggestion.

thank you.

Family visit. She does not need your financial sponsorship if she has her own means.

From you, just a copy of your passport profile page, BC (to show the familial link) and a letter saying she is welcome to stay with you. Her own evidence of her financial means is what matters.

No, it's a family visit because you are British and/or settled. It's wrong of you to assume that family visitors are required to have a financial sponsor. Financial sponsorship from a UK resident or unsettled migrant is a completely separate issue.
