Visitor visa guidance

Post by accablues » Wed Dec 25, 2013 8:12 am

(admin hope this is the right index I am using for my query)

Hi everyone,

I am a british citizen currently working in dubai. I want to apply visit visa for my wife , she is Pakistani national living with me.

my question is, should I go for general visa (vaf1a) or family visa (vaf1b). I am confused , embassy is not giving any clear answer. I contacted them and this is the reply I recieved ::

"Please read the guidance on the UKBA website which clearly states the following regarding family visitors.

Visiting family

If you want to visit members of your family in the UK, you can apply to come here as a family visitor (or as a child visitor if you are under 18).

If you want to stay longer than 6 months, you cannot come as a visitor. See the Partners and families section for information about other types of family visa.

If your spouse meets these rules, she can apply under family visitor category. If not she would have to apply as a general visitor.

Hope you have found this useful. "

NOTE: I will be traveling with her, techincally she is not visiting family in UK !!

ADVISE PLZ .. thanks in advance

It would be a family visitors visa that she needs to apply for. However they are usually reluctant to give visa to wives of British citizens of Pakistani descent.
If by any chance she was granted it,it would be for a max of 6 months.

My advice would be to apply for a spouse visa rather than visitors, because if she was refused visitors visa, it may have detrimental effect on her spouse visa if and when she eventually applies fro it

many thanks for your valuable advice, however because of my job reason - i have no plans to move back any time soon and I feel it will be waste of money plus if she only travels 2 or 3 times a year they immigration ppl at the desk can create probs..

I will try for family visit 6 months if GOD forbids its refused, I will than go for settlemet option

best regards
