Hi Guys,

I need an advice from you. I was an Indian but got currently British Citizenship. My wife is on ILR. She applied for her British Citizenship. She is carrying a baby and desperatly want to deliver in India !!!. We are thinking about both my Wife application and new born baby status. I read all your posts regarding bitter experience with BHC new delhi. So we are thinking of going on route of getting baby an Indian passport in India with ROA sticker and appy for British Citizenship after she comes into U.K. is this sounds OK? will there be any complications? Also what will happen to my wifes citizenship application form. Can she withdraw it and apply next year? No money taken at from my credit card!!!

How was your wife's naturalisation application lodged, NCS, postal? If NCS, she should have her passport with her.

Even if it is a postal application, she can ask for her passport to be returned if she wants to travel and there would be no need to withdraw the naturalisation application. Further details here:

Is it absolutely necessary to have the delivery in India? It would save you so much hassle if the child was born in the UK and s/he would become a British Citizen otherwise than by descent.

Yes , she would like to have all the family members around her except me . Her father is a Doctor and would like to get the delivery done on his own clinic .

My wife applied through NCS. No problem with Passport. She got it with her.
We would like to be sure about following things

1) No problem for child to get indian passport and ROB and later on British Citizenship in U.K.

2) If my wife's current British citizenship application gets approved and she won't be in country, what will happen ? ( She is planning to be away for 6 months ) . Can she request home office to allow her to do the ceremony after 6 months.


we are more concerned about child status rather than my wife ( as she is already on ILR )

Any thoughts will be a huge help for us

Why not have the child in the UK and "ship" in your in-laws or your parents for 6 months on a tourist visa to take care of your wife.

That way she won't miss the ceremony and you won't have to register the child and apply for the passport directly.
