Travelling with limited time left on UK residence permit

Post by BigEasy » Tue Aug 12, 2014 4:43 pm

Hi all,

I am a UK citizen and my wife is Ecuadorian, in possession of a UK biometric residence permit, valid for 2 years which ends mid November this year. We will be applying in late October or early November for ILR but before then we have a holiday for a week in Spain in September and I am worried that my wife may have problems (either getting to Spain or returning to UK) because her BRP expires in the near future. However, as there is no way of obtaining the ILR BRP any sooner I wouldn't have thought we have any other option. We'll be travelling together both directions.

My wife does already have a Schengen multi-entry visa following our trip to France last year, so I am not worried about visa issues as such, more the approaching expiry date on the BRP.

Would appreciate any advice. Many thanks.

She shouldn't have any issues returning as she has a valid visa.
