Family visit

Post by Bheema » Fri Oct 03, 2014 5:28 pm

Hello All,

I am planning to bring my parents to visit UK next year. I am British Citizen. Can any one let me know how much balance I need to maintain and for how long? who would be best to maintain funds (Me or my parents)?

There's no set balance. If you are planning to fund their trip - you need to show enough money to fly them here, keep them here, feed them and take them around. You know what that looks like. If they want to travel the entire rail network on same day tickets, you'll need a small fortune, if they are going to stay in your house and not tour around - it's far less.

In terms of who needs to maintain funds - the answer is both. Money and financial situation is one of the indicators they use for a visitor's genuineness and if they claim to be funding a trip themselves without any cash - it rings alarm bells. It's less important if you are funding it.
