Child Custody - moving to the US

Post by puzzled » Thu Aug 16, 2007 1:52 am

What's the position regarding migrating to the US. I don't have any formal custody arrangement. Do I need permission from my ex to take my child to live in the US? We don't speak to one another even though I have tried for the sake of the children. Thank you - any information would be appreciated.

Your best bet would be to arrange a consultation with a solicitor. I would imagine that since you haven't been awarded sole custody by a court, permission would be needed and/or a formal custody arrangement worked out. (This is just a guess though; that's pretty much the jist of it for moving kids out of the US, I don't know about other countries though, so a solicitor would be a good idea.)
