Marriage Certificate- What does ECO really look for?

Post by humbleguy » Tue Apr 14, 2015 10:51 pm

Hey All,
I am really stressing out as I preparing my wifes visa application. I am applying for settlement visa for my wife

I have noticed one very big flaw in my marriage certificate which I am not sure if ECO will scrutinise. The flaw is:

When I was applying to have my marriage certificate, I did not use my british passport in fear of getting noticed in the country I was. Alot of the time I visit my home country and I try to not reveal my identity that I am British to anyone outside my close family member.

So I used my id card from my country. In doing so now my marriage certificate contains information that if ECO was to look into would not find it on my record here in the UK. For example, my fathers name is different to the one I gave here in UK. My nationality is specified as the country where I got married instead of being British. little details like these... although our names, pictures etc are reflected perfectly fine....

I am not sure if this is a cause for concern? as Marriage certificate should only be used to prove a marriage took place in a legal way and not question how or by what mean it took place, as long as it was lawful?

anyone have experience this type of issue? or have some advice to share, I would really appreciate it

Your problem may be if the case worker believes the marriage certificate may not be yours. i.e different nationality, different ID and perhaps more concerning, your father's name different to that held on record. Why didn't you give your father's correct name?

When i was getting the id card they used the name that is held on record in that country...while my father name is different in uk..

Obivously the cerificate has my picture and has been obtained with a proper legal procedure and in my presence

The you may be lucky but I still don't see why you would give a different name for your father in the UK. That's where you problem may be.

I know it sounds a bit strange... Its just my father when he got his id card gave this name at the time and when i was filling my details in the uk, he gave me a slightly different name... my family name is the same as in my passport its just father name is not matching...
