Regarding permanent resident of dependent parent

Post by satya78 » Fri Dec 18, 2015 8:04 pm

Hi All,

I hope someone can help on my queries. I am originally from India an now acquired British citizen.
My father is staying alone in India and there is no family member to support him. My brother and sister are currently in abroad. Through one of my sister lives there but she is busy with her own family so can't look after him.
Is there any possibility I can apply for permanent resident for father so that he can live with me in UK?

Any feedback and input will be of great help.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Satya

Only if he needs care with basic daily activities, such as washing, dressing and cleaning AND such care is either unavailable or unaffordable in his home country.

If, as I suspect, he is from the Indian subcontinent, the cost of care there is significantly lower than in the UK and so his application will be refused.

His having a daughter in the same country as him weakens his application significantly.

Search online and on this forum for Adult Dependent Relative visa. You may also wish to search for the Surinder Singh route.

To put it bluntly, the Home Office case worker won't be interested in the fact that his daughter is too busy to care for him in his own country. The door for Adult Dependent Visas has now been virtually closed.
