FLR(M) Return of Passport

Post by Lurch » Sat Jan 02, 2016 10:44 am

If applying for the UK Spouse Visa and completing the FLR(M) form for the 5 year route, if I need to get the passport back before the Visa is granted (or refused) I assume it is possible to get the passport back for the applicant in advance, if for example we need to travel.

I have found a link to https://eforms.homeoffice.gov.uk/outrea ... ments.ofml has anyone used this to get their documents (specifically the passport) back?

Or you could pay a bit extra and apply in person for a decision on the day.

It can take up to 40 days (sometimes longer) to get documents back.

When I spoke to an Visa and Immigration Advsior they recommend that the postal option be taken rather than doing it in person, as if there are issues on the day it all just gets posted off anyway.

If your application is straightforward, there is no reason why it will be deferred/delayed. If there are system glitches, a decision will still be quick (couple of weeks) whereas a postal application can take many months.

I have applied for all my visas in person, never had a problem.
