Spouse Visa (FLR M) used out of date form

Hi All,

Am hoping for some advice. We applied for my wife's spouse extension at the end of December, but I used an out of date form and didn't realise. We had the application sent back, after her visa ran out. They sent a threat of removal. I phoned the Sheffield office and they said just send in the application again on the latest form, with a covering letter. We did this last week, and I have noticed the money has been taken from my account.

Yesterday we received a letter telling my wife to report to Hounslow every 4 weeks. We have a huge difficulty with this.

1. My mother, who lives with us, was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer (asbestos related) in December, hence my complete mess up with the forms. My wife is the main carer and we can not leave my mother alone.
2. We have a 15 month old child.
3. My wife is 4 months pregnant
4. Hounslow is not even our nearest office.

So what can we do? Our application should have been very straightforward, my salary is fine, and we have a child and another on the way.

Should I phone the Hounslow office and explain my wife will not be able to attend, and was the person in the Sheffield office correct, "saying just send the new form with a covering letter and it will be fine"

Any advice would be appreciated
