Hi,

My wife arrived from india to the UK via the spouse visa in June 2017.

She completed the A1 life skills in India and now has 2.5 year visa to
stay in the UK (she is now in the UK).

To permanently stay I believe she needs to now do her A2 life skills
test.

When is the earliest time she can take the A2 life skills test?

Is that the only thing she needs to do to stay in the UK?

If she took her A2 life skills test in 2 months time as passes, will
she get permanent stay in the UK or does she need to do something else?

No one can predict as what kind/level of English test will be required in 2.5 years time. Your wife will need another 2.5 years of extension after completing her existing 2.5 years of visa.

....and under the current Immigration Rules, she will also have to pass the Life in the UK and B1 level English at the end of the 5 year period before qualifying for settlement (ILR).

what do you need to do to get the visa extension? Or does it automatically happen?

In addition to seagul's advice...your wife MUST submit the next FLR(M) application before her current visa expires. The Home Office won't send any reminders.

(Again under current regulations), if your wife fails to pass the Life in the UK and B1 level English tests at the end of the 5 year period she would have to apply for the FLR(FP) Partner route, which would be a new 10 year path to settlement (ILR).

If she passes A2 will she get a permanent stay in the uk?
When would she need to take the A2 - she has just been issued a 2.5 year visa for the first time. Can she take it next month or should she wait after 2 years?

No, as you've already been advised, B1 level English + the Life in the UK test is required for ILR (permanent residence). Be aware that the requirement may change in the next 2.5 years and unlike the Life in the UK test, some English tests have an expiry date.

She will only qualify for permanent saty (ILR) in 2022. Suggeat focus on the next extension and whatever the rules are then.

For ILR she needs B1 English as the rules stand now

What happens if you pass the A2 only? She passed her A1 life skills in India.

Will that allow her to stay in the country in anyway or extend stay?

As has already been advised, if she fails to pass the B1 level English and Life in the UK test for ILR at the end of her 5 years of residence, she will have to apply for another FLR(M) 2.5 years extension.

Hello there, I am looking for advice from anyone with experience or a similar situation like myself

I recently made an application (Further Leave to Remain 10 year route [Partner]). I also included details of my little girl who was only like 90 days in March. Initially I received an email saying that my application has been received and will take 6 mths. Later on I got a letter in March for biometric data and enrolled my biometrics at the post office. However in June I received a letter telling me to attend a reporting event somewhere in the Midlands and this got me very worried. Any advise/suggestions please?

My previous circumstances include a student visa (expired 2013), previous EU application that was unsuccessful (2014) and I basically think that implied overstaying. Looking forward to hear from everyone please
