Fiance Visa - Advice on Supporting Documents

Post by skilla » Fri Sep 22, 2017 1:18 pm

Hi,

I am just starting an application for my Colombian fiance (we plan to marry and live in the UK) so I am looking for some help on proof of relationship and finance documents. We are going back to Colombia together at the end of Oct so the plan is to pay for the 2-week fast service in the hope that she can fly back with me.

We met in Jan 2015 and I spent 9 months with her in Colombia. She has stayed with me in the UK via 2 tourist visas for about 11 months (6 months 2016, 5 Months 2017). I have also visited her in Colombia a number of other times inc. 3.5 months at the start of this year.
We have flight bookings & tourist visa stuff for her visits as well as us visiting friends and family in the EU together so we can easily show spending time but I am not sure what to do about calls/emails/skype etc..

Proof of relationship
Letters, Skype chats etc
We do have emails but more forwarding documents etc rather than 'love letters' as we pretty much use whatsapp to keep in touch. Most of it is a mix of maybe 60% Spanish & 40% English. If I include messages do I need to have all of the messages officially translated? Seems like that is a nonstarter
I also don't have chats going back that far due to broken phones and a lack of backups.

Company in Colombia
I own a company in Colombia and she has helped look after it for me in an unofficial capacity although she does take a wage and when we go back in Oct I plan to add her to the company in a legal capacity. So we can show this as a link too. Should I demonstrate this so or does it just look like a business arrangement and/or complicate things?

Photos
Is it OK to put a few photos together on 1 A4 page with a description of who and where?

Pregnancy
She is 3 months pregnant with our first child. Should I include evidence of this or again does it raise more questions?

Finance (Company Director/Self-Employed)
My income is clear of the requirements and I have 3 SA302s from HMRC stating my earnings for the last three tax years plus I plan to add in the actual tax returns too and a letter from my accountant. Do I still need to include 6 months payslips as most of my income is through dividends?

Sorry for the silly questions, any advice you can offer would be much appreciated
Many Thanks
Mark

Hi.

My US partner recently received her fiance visa and will be joining me in the next few weeks. I am a British citizen.

The papers I submitted were

Birth certificate
Bank statements
Pay statements
Proof of other income (to meet minimum income requirements)
Mortgage statement
Letter from my employer
Proof of trips to US and UK
Birthday, Valentine, Christmas cards
Utility bills
Divorce papers of previous marriage

No photos. No pregnancy (we are both late 50s)

I think that was it.

The whole thing took about 3-4 months. As far as we are aware there is no Fast service for a fiance visa. It may be different for applicants in Colombia.

Good luck.

Fiance Visa - Application Form Questions

Post by skilla » Tue Oct 03, 2017 12:51 pm

We have just completed and saved a fiance visa application form and have a few questions. [I am British & my fiance is Colombian]
Sorry if these are silly Qs, I am probably overthinking lots of things.

Are you travelling with anyone?
Yes (It just me and her so I have put yes and then added me to the list as we plan to come back together. Is this necessary as later in the application it asks if you are traveling with your spouse?)

How long do you intend to stay in the UK?
6 Months (as per visa although really want to say forever :-) )

Travel to UK (I have added the Issuing Authority exactly as per the visas in her passport but the site indicates something more general like British Embassy, is this OK?)
Type of Visa | Date of Issue | Date of Expiry | Issuing Authority
C-Visit | 02 May 2017 | 24 Nov 2017 | UK VI 15
C-Visit | 10 Mar 2016 | 10 Oct 2016 | Bogota

5 most recent visits. I have included trips where we left the UK together to visit family/friends in the EU and then came back on the same multi-entry visa.
Is this OK or should we just put 2 visits covering here 2 visa periods and ignoring her leaving for 3/4 days?

Date of Arrival Departure date Purpose of the trip
29 May 2017 | 20 Oct 2017 | Visit
29 Aug 2016 | 08 Oct 2016 | Visit
03 Jul 2016 | 19 Aug 2016 | Visit
15 Apr 2016 | 30 Jun 2016 | Visit

Employment/Do you have any additional paid jobs or occupations?:
Employed Part-time
Company X

My fiance is a is a freelance VET in Colombia but does not have work at the moment as she has been in the UK with me for 5 months. She is however paid a small salary from my Colombian company as she helps with admin.
We have put part-time employment at that firm, should we add her historical VET work below even though it has ended?
Or should we say she is a VET that is unemployed as her primary employment and then add the additional parttime work in the lower section?

[We are relying on my income solely to cover the 18600 and I am clear of that]

Many thanks
Mark
