Accomodation requirement for spouse visa

Post by runie80 » Fri Apr 18, 2008 7:49 pm

Hi everyone,

Hope you all are fine.

I have applied for my FMRS and its still in process.
Home office are taking ages now to process the applications.

I have a friend <British citizen by naturalization>

HE wants to apply for a spouse visa for his wife.
He has a son as well. The son has been granted British passport from BHC after the DNA results.

What i want to know is what are the requirements regarding the accommodation. I remember reading some formulae like space to person ratio etc

can anyone please help ?

The person in question lives in a studio flat.what he wants to know is will this be enough for his wife to secure spouse visa?

if not then what alternatives does he has ?

Much appreciate your help

any questions please ask.

I suppose that is the easy bit, so getting it out of the way first, he needs to move to larger accommodation!

But does it come to that? We need to know, excluding any Spam, bathroom or toilet, how many rooms in the place exceed 50 square feet in size? If necessary, yes grab a tape measure! You mention "studio flat" but there is no strict definition of what that comprises.

Also, the son (and indeed any other children who are going to be living in the place) .... how old?

Thanks for the response John.

Much appreciated.

His room is 196 square feet. The rest of the space is toilet and Spam.
which you said is not included.

His son which has been granted the British citizenship is less than 2 years old.He has been married for over 3 years now and have visited his wife regularly. He also sends money to his wife there for all expenses and etc.

there will be only one child living with him there with him and his wife.
so three people in total.

many thanks for help
