FLR M Proof of 2.5 years address and Cohabiation

Post by Ambuk » Thu Apr 04, 2019 3:49 pm

Hi is someone also able to advise me please I am very worried

My husband moved to UK on spouse visa in October 2017 and we both moved into a rented accommodation. Unfortunately I was not aware of the FLR requirements of providing proof of address up until now and all of my husbands correspondence are directed to my parents address which we wanted to keep as our main postal/ billing adress however we live in a rented accommodation and was not planning to stay here too long.

For the rented accomodation all the bills and council tax/sky/water etc is only in my name (sponsor) So we do not have any proof of his living in the rented accomodation other than maybe a letter from the letting agent? I have now added him onto the bills so I will have proof for 1 yr out of the 2.5 yrs of his visa term. Will I have to explain to home office that all his correspondence was addressed to my parents for the first year, not sure what to do. Obviously we cannot apply his FLR from my parents address right?

All his DVLA/ HM Revenue and anything else has always been sent to my parents address also his salary was paid into my bank account each month as he doesnt have his own bank account yet ( we have now applied but waiting on that to open)

His visa expires March 2020

Appreciate any advice, thanks

You need to provide correspondence covering the last 2 years (not 2.5 years) so in your case the 2018-19 is the issue as he’ll have built up for 2019-20 as you’ve now added him to the bills.

Does he not have any letters in his name at the rented property?

Letters from GP, dentist, hospital, council tax, tenancy agreement etc

If he can find 3 letters in sole name, that is sufficient for the 2018-19 period, as he would need 6 in total for the 2 years, if none were in joint names. Obviously you would also need to collate letters in your name for the same period, if not in joint names.

Many thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately we were completely unaware of this requirement. I wish we had known and started collecting things from day 1, everything he has is addressed to my parents home. He didnt get to register at doctor or dentist and tenancy agreement is in my name only.

All I can do is explain this to the home office on a cover letter I am guessing..I am wondering if anyone else has been sucessfull with a similar situation where they couldnt show full 2 yrs?
