Personal statement not returned?

I just got my FLR(M) decision yesterday. The leave was granted (hooray), but I noticed just now that my personal statement (in which I described how I met my partner and the things I have included in the application) was not sent back via Royal Mail.

Has this happened to anybody else? Does it seem like normal Home Office practice? Should I ask them about it?

It was not a necessary document and HO will likely keep it on file.
