Next steps for active Tier 2 dependants after Citizenship to spouse. Help

Post by ethernalvoyager » Sat May 04, 2019 11:25 am

Hi,

Recently, my application for Citizenship was successful and my ceremony is next week. I had taken the following route:

3 Years on Tier 2 General + 2 Years extension + 1 year ILR.

My spouse has the following route:
3 years on Tier 2 dependant. Visa extended the same time I got my ILR.
So, currently on Tier 2 Dependant and will complete 5 years on that category in April 2020.

Now that my visa category has changed (ILR to Citizen), does my spouse need to re-apply for Tier 2 dependant extension? What is the recommended process for PBS dependants when we switch from ILR to Citizenship?

Many thanks for your help.

No. Not sure why you would believe she has to. Note that neither ILR or citizenship are VISA categories.

Continue on her existing visa and when she qualifies, apply for ILR.

Thanks a lot for the quick response.

Is there a need to notify the authorities that main applicant's immigration status has changed form ILR to Citizen?
