Hi there. I am seeking some honest opinions in the situation i am in. I shall be very grateful if some can help. Currently I'm on a spouse visa which is due for extension next year December 2019. I am filing a SET DV application, My spouse physically abused me by slamming the door onto my arm twice and was very nasty and was continuously shouting.I called the police, they came and whilts the officer was talking to me, my spouse started screaming’ to take her with them. Police took her, and after couple of hours they visited me again. I told them all the story and told them that i want to press charges. I asked them that you took my spouse cos she was telling you to take her with you or what? They were like no, she accepted that she has assaulted you.
Next day police relased her by saying that the evidence you have provided is not enough to charge her. I left my house the same day and never went back.
Now i got my police report today in which they said that i was arguing with my spouse, and i told them that my spouse slammed the door to my arm and that i have told them that its swollen.
They said that we took the photos of the wrist and we didn’t see anything on the wrist, if there was anything it was so minor that we couldn't see anything. They said that victom declines fo make a statement! I told them to that i want to press charges.
I told police about the previous assaults too which were not reported.
Next day i went to my gp and in my medical reports GP says that’ slight swelling on the right wrist and pain on movement.
I am very much astonished by the police statement that they have not mentioned about what actually happened there, but they did arrested my spouse. Police said in the report that its a standard case a not high risk. I have been visiting my GP for long
Related to the issues that and violence that was Happening in my marriage, i have reports from GP, DV professional letter, MARAC report, counselling letter and this police report.
My question is that will this Police report effect my case? As they are saying that they couldn’t see anything on the wrist and by not informing the whole situation?
Please be honest in your comments cos i really don’t know what to do in this situation.
Thank you.
