Settlement Visa Approved. What next?

Post by Jon.Mason » Mon May 20, 2019 4:02 pm

My wife's settlement visa was previously rejected and I appealed to the home office.

At the tribunal I was awarded the visa and the home office never appealed.

My wife gave in her passport and I paid the NHS surcharge.

She has now received her passport back with a stamp.

I want to understand what is the next steps?

When she flies to the UK, will she just come through with me or will they sort out some of her paperwork in the airport?

When does she go to the post office for her proper visa (the one she has now is for 28 days only)?

How do I book an appointment at the post office to get her card produced?

Presumably this is a 30 day validity visa??

She must arrive in the UK within the dates her visa vignette is valid for.

She arrives, gets stamped in and thats it.
When does she go to the post office for her proper visa (the one she has now is for 28 days only)?
Usually within 10 days of arriving in the UK. She needs to take her passport with her.

The card is produced in Wales and simply sent to the post office you nominated. You don't need an appointment, just arrive to collect it.

Yes 30 day validity visa.

We haven't been asked to nominate a post office though? When are we asked to nominate a post office?

I was planning for her to fly here just briefly to pick up her visa and then return home whilst I sort a few final things out to move her here permanently.

I want her to land, get her proper 2.5 year visa, then fly back. So need to understand before hand how we can nominate a post office and get the card sent there ready for her to collect.

After that presumably she can just come and go at her leisure?

The card is the Biometric card and serves as her visa?

Is there any websites I can read about this to understand it better?

It would have been asked in the application form for a spouse visa.

It would have been where you nominated when completing the original visa application.

Yes.

Hello,

Did you use the Visa4UK website to complete your application? If so, log on and click on BRP Collection Location.

You Mrs will then need to visit the Post Office mentioned in the BRP Collection Location within 10 days of her coming to the UK.

I did apply through the visa4uk site but I just logged in and the visa application shows up as "inactive" and i cant click on the biometric BRP collection as its greyed out. I dont recall ever specifying on there which post office to use but can't be sure. How can I verify it?

I just checked a pdf copy of my original application form I generated using the website, and I do have a post office specified.

So will they have this biometric card as soon as they issue the visa to us or would they still be sending it through the post? is there any way to confirm they have the card before I bring my wife over to pick up her biometric card?

They should have it within 10 days aof visa issue or date of her arrival in the UK. Some members have arrived and picked it up the very next day.

They won't tell you anything due to data protection. She needs to go with her passport to collect it herself.

Just make sure to take your Mrs TB Test Certificate with you as well. As she will need to present it at the airport.

Usually application form ask for nominating the post office branch for BRP collection. If you not remembering or forgotten to specify that on form then more likely it will be the closest branch to your postal address. Just go & check there. Or the letter come along with the passport state that post office branch address.

Ok so the issue is we have a son with my missus who still doesn't have a passport.

So my plan was for her to come here, pick up her biometric card plus all the documents needed for a passport application for our son, and then return back home like a day or two later.

So is there any way to guarantee the card will be there before she lands?

She was given her stamp a week ago so is it when they issue the stamp they send the card, or is it when she enters the country?

The letter come along with visa sticker on passport clearly state the date by which it will be first ready to collect.
