Japanese pension or British pension

Post by WooHoo » Tue Jul 15, 2008 6:12 am

My wife is about to enter the UK on a marriage visa (valid for two years initially).

Until now she has been paying into the standard Japanese government pension scheme. She is currently 26 and the pension will be worth about £300 per month on retirement. That is with £50 per month contributions. Yesterday she asked me if she should continue paying into this pension pot, or start paying into the British equivalent.

At the moment we do not know exactly how long we intend to stay in the UK. This is a kind of trial run. However, it will be at least for 1 year.

Could anyone advise us what my wife should do? :?
