Accommodation question (Fiancé visa)

Post by marcusbm » Mon Sep 02, 2019 7:21 pm

Hi there

We're planning on getting married in March and will apply for a fiancé visa before a spouse visa.

With the accommodation requirement I have a question. My tenancy details a clause where I'm the only allowed tenant but guests are allowed. When I ask the agent to ask the landlord about a support letter they said they can only issue this after the visa has been granted (and after a reference check for my fiancé + £75/hr fees).

I really need clarification which evidence I need to present. Their last email was:

Dear Marcus,

I have now spoken with the Landlord, and in principal we can agree to this however, all of this will be subject to satisfactory referencing of your partner once a visa has been granted.

We will not be able to provide a letter stating this until all the required information has come back unfortunately. If you wish to proceed, we will look to charge on an hourly rate for my time, which is currently £75 per hour plus VAT plus expenses which would include the referencing checks.

I am sorry we can not be of any further help at this time.

With kind regards

Until a person arrives and start living in uk no referencing can be initiated. What he can easily do is to issue a noc letter with the condition that your partner will be allowed to live with you upon successfully getting the visa. If you have signed the assured tenancy agreement with estate agent then you dont need landlord/owner permission.

They're saying they can't issue any letter until the visa is issued, verified and referencing is done

Try to convince them in getting that otherwise if you have any friend/relative who can provide accommodation documents.

Wouldn't that need a property inspection report? I have an elderly relative who lives alone in a three bedroom house about 5 miles away.

No home inspection report will be needed. It might be the best alternative if that accomodation is not council provided.
