This can't be news to long-term readers of these forums, but the (England and Wales) Court of Appeal has ruled that standalone Islamic faith marriages without an accompanying civil marriage are not recognised in England and Wales.

For visa purposes it has already been implemented where Islamic marriages/nikkah in UK won't be accepted.
