Spouse Visa - Generic Advice

Post by muffigw0 » Tue Sep 01, 2020 3:08 pm

Good Afternoon,

Myself (UK Citizen) and my wife (Indian Citizen) are looking to apply for a spouse visa so I can get her to the UK. Reading through the government website and online guides, I'm finding conflicting information regarding several issues with the application process/requirements.

Please could someone advise on the following questions:

1) I understand as she's looking to come from India to the UK, it is an outside application. Can I attach and submit the documents to the online application on her behalf? I can pay the fee and arrange the biometrics from India?
2) I satisfy the financial requirement of £18,600. Is it necessary to submit my wife's financial and employment status too?
3) For identification documents, such as passports, do they require to be signed/authorised by a solicitor to prove they are genuine scanned copies?
4) Under the government website 'information you must provide', the last bullet point mentions 'your life outside the UK'. Who is required to provide this information? Is it both the sponsor and the applicant?

Any help or guidance it highly appreciated.

Kind Regards.

1. Yes a uk sponsor can fill the form and pay the application on applicant's behalf but regarding uploading the documents you will have to follow the instruction of local vfs centre. Pre-cvd19 the documents can be uploaded by UK sponsor so not sure as whether has that been changed now.

2. Only your income will matter

3. No notarisation or certification is required.

4. Applicant
