Please Help! Fiance Visa

Post by Diamond-05 » Tue May 25, 2021 2:57 am

Hey,

So my Fiance lives in Asia and i want to sponsor him here in Uk so we can get married and start our life together. I am a British citizen and i currently earn £18005 per year and I'm aware that the minimum requirement to sponsor your partner is £18600 but i just wanted to ask if if having £600 less is a big deal and won't work for the sponsor or will i be able to pull it off with this much without having to change my job? I have around 6k savings and would that be enough or will i need more? Has anyone experienced similar situation please advice me.

Yes, it is a big deal. As far as I know, the £18,600 is a hard requirement.

Nowhere near enough. For a start, the first £16,000 of savings are ignored.

To make up the £600 shortfall in income, you'd need ((£600*2.5)+£16000) or £17,500 in savings.

Also keep in mind that you will need to maintain the level of earning at £18600 through most of the five years of the spousal visa as well, as the same will need to be demonstrated at the renewal for the spousal visa in 2.5 years time.

Can you ask your employer for an increase in hours or take on an extra part-time job for the next year to meet the requirements?
