***Doubts over language test for FLRM renewal***

Post by Cubomagico007 » Thu Sep 30, 2021 8:33 am

Background story time:
In summer 2018 I passed the A2 test from Trinity College London and used it to apply for the fiance visa in December 2018. I also used the same A2 test to apply for the FLRM in May 2019. I am now coming up to applying for an FLRM extension at the end of 2021. I decided to pass the A2 thinking I "could future proof" and not have to spend more money every time I need to apply for a visa.

Question:
It seems the requiriment for the FLRM extension is still a A2 test. Can I still use my test then? I wonder because it seems it has a 2 year expiration date? But I also hear people saying otherwise?

If someone could enlighten me that would be greatly appreciated :D :D :D

While expiration is after 2 years, it can be reused if the exam and provider are still on the list of HO as at the time of application for extension.
If you intend doing another test, go for B1, this will save you time and money towards ILR n BC.

Thanks for that! However, I am still unsure because UK gov website states the test is valid for 2 years...is there anywhere on the rules it says it may still be used?

Sorry but you as you know this entire visa thing is complicated and can get quite stressful! I just really want to make sure I can use it again because it would be a pain to have my application refused because of this!

Appendix FM-SE

“ 32D. If an applicant applying for limited leave to enter or remain under Part 8 or Appendix FM submits an English language test certificate or result and the Home Office has already accepted it as part of a successful previous partner or parent application (but not where the application was refused, even if on grounds other than the English language requirement), the decision-maker will accept that certificate or result as valid if it is:
(a) from a provider which is no longer approved, or
(b) from a provider who remains approved but the test the applicant has taken with that provider is no longer approved, or
(c) from a test centre which is no longer approved, or
(d) past its validity date (if a validity date is required), provided that it is at or above the requisite level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and when the subsequent application is made the award to the applicant does not fall within the circumstances set out in paragraph 32B of this Appendix”
