Longer term multiple entry (1 to 2 years) query....

Hello

My query is about Longer term multiple entry (1 to 2 years) visa. I am applying from India for my baby (3 months old) and found this under the fees page on the VFS website. The link is http://www.vfs-uk-in.com/visafees.aspx.

I have a Tier 1 General visa valid till Sept 2011 and wife have a Tier 1 Dependent visa. We don't want to apply her for dependent now as the current visibility in UK is 6 months or could be more.

I have the following query:

1) Can i apply for a Family Visitor visa requesting it to be valid for 1 or 2 years but stay at any one time not exceeding 6 months?
2) If yes to the above questions then, As a person on visitor visa is not allowed to stay in UK for more than 6 months? Can he go out and come back immediately say in a months time? Are there any restriction on how many days he can stay in UK within a year?
