It's important that the sponsor sends either original bank statements or ones that have been signed and dated by the bank on offical letter head paper.ElizabethB wrote:Hi everyone
I will be the sponsor for my (to-be) spouse.
I have gone paperless with one of my bank accounts - is this okay? My main accounts (current & savings) are still being sent to me.
I receive my money quarterly as I am on a phd grant (worth £12600 per annum, tax free) so I get my £3000+ in Jan, Apr, July and Oct. Should I put in application in the first month after receiving payment so that the bank balance looks more healthy?!
I appreciate any help, cheers
Thanks again BOBD (I am shortening your name, although I love it!boulevardofbrokendreams wrote:It's important that the sponsor sends either original bank statements or ones that have been signed and dated by the bank on offical letter head paper.ElizabethB wrote:Hi everyone

If you have £100.95/week left over after rent and council tax and your bank statements reflect this, then you can apply now. However, I would probably wait until the amount was deposited.
To satisfy the requirements of the visa, you need 6 months of your bank statements and 6 months of wage slips which in your case will just be proof that you get paid through your PhD program. If you have any official letter that explains how much grant money you're getting, that's all you need. Since you're applying a year before your grant will finish, I don't think you should have any problems. I know plenty of people that got a visa approval while being under grad students and just showing proof of student loans, grants etc... Obviously, they wouldn't be students forever, and didn't have jobs but still got approvals. Don't worry about it is my pointElizabethB wrote:Thanks Elena!
My studentship (grant) will finish in March 2011.. Say we apply April 2010.. will it matter to them that I don't have a permanent job after March 2011 (i.e. within the first two years before ILR application) - I will by then (hopefully) have a PhD, plus very highly graded bachelors & masters so I should be able to find a job, even if it won't be highly paid. Will the ending of my studentship affect my husband-to-be's chances of success?
Sorry if I am asking too many questions here..

I guess they would look at it, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't accept it as it's not original or a signed copy. If you're sending in 6 months you really don't need the print-out.ElizabethB wrote:Thanks again Elena! Very helpful...
Back to the issue of statements, if I have six months original bank statements and then a print-out from net banking to just show current balance would this print-out be completely disregarded?
