British Citzenship of baby with British/Aussie parents

Post by Gen » Sat Jan 01, 2011 9:07 pm

Hello,
I have a british citzenship via sponsorship and indefinite leave to remain. Hence I am now dual british australian passport holder.

If I my child was born in the UK I understand that they would automatically get british citizenship. If however my child was born outside the UK, would they be entitled to a british passport?

Also on a separate issue, if a baby was born in the UK to parents who have been in the UK just short of idenfite leave to remain, is the child entitled to a passport without they claiming indefinite leave to remain. If they left the UK, how long could they be out of the country and still claim indefinite leave to remain or british passport for the baby.

Thank you

Yes.

Cannot, unless a parent is granted ILR.
