working on a cruise

Post by aminehmoh » Wed Feb 02, 2011 8:06 am

Hi again

My partner.and I have just signed a year lease, a week later he got a job on board a cruise.

He is currently on a two year spouse visa, if he goes, the agreement and bills will b in both our names..

Will this matter that he is not living with me when it comes to renewing his visa in 2012?

Plz helpppppp

How will you show that your relationship is existing and genuine (not like a 'marriage of convenience');
and you and your partner both intend to live together permanently as partners?

Hi

If you can show in evidence that the relationship is genuine, it should be fine. Immigration should be able to understand the nature of the job your partner is going for. Keep all your evidence intact such as bills on both of your names individual as well as joint, bank statements, any other mails, plus while your partner is on the cruise for the 6 months keep all the communication evidence such as emails, phone calls etc. and show them as part of the evidence as well.

I would suggest that you mention details of the job in your statement with the application and also mention how you kept in contact, all this should clear the officer's mind. I am sure they will be able to understand, I am sure immigration officers understand the nature of the job with cruise liners.

In case there are issues and HO objects, you should be able to apply for FLR visa to extend the spouse visa without any problems. Once the 2 years are covered you should be able to get your ILR.

You saying you have already got FLR after you expiring you Spouse visa? You still have not completed 2 years using the above both Visa's? You might be confused in thinking that you need to complete 2 years on 1 single visa which is not true, you just need to complete 2 years on a legal immigration status. So if you have lived for 1 year on Spouse visa and the next years on FLR, you should be fine as well.

I am afraid, I do not have a lot of experience on this maybe other members on the board can give you more details.
