Ancestry Dependancy over 18yr

Post by brucedav » Sat May 07, 2011 10:04 am

My father initially applied for ancestry with me included as a dependant. At the time of application I was 17 and automatically qualified as a dependant. Four years later he renewed his ancestry status as did I, however as I was over 18 I had to apply under a separate application, but still as a dependant (I am one generation to far down to qualify for ancestry).

The visa which I was issued on renewal is a Residency Permit marked as 'limited leave to remain' and makes no reference to me being a dependant to my father as the previous visa did: 'to acc parent'.

Am I still linked to him?

Can I apply for ILR independently?

Yes, you are still linked to him.
No, you cannot apply for ILR independently. Don't lead an independent life before applying at the same time as him.
