My wife who is on a spouse visa is coming up to the 2 year probation period and will be ready to apply for her ILR. Now looking at the documents that we need to supply, it shows we will need to provide our marriage certificate. My question is as our marriage certificate is Chinese (we were married in China), will the Home Office require a legalised (who by?) version?
When we obtained her spouse visa, it was done by the British Embassy in China so we already have it translated and notarised by the Chinese Registrar Office. But will the Home Office in the UK where we will be applying require the extra step to have it legalised? If so who by? The British Embassy in China, the FCO here, the Chinese Embassy in UK, the Chinese Authorities in China?
