spouse visa

I am a British citizen,who came to india fr pursuing my medicine.now i finished my education n plan to come back to uk aftr my marriage(in a few months) along with my husband(indian) who is a doctor too.when can i apply fr his spouse visa,how long will it take to process,is a spouse visa better preferred to a plab visa?
