Unemployed and worried about denial due to financial reasons

Post by John_S » Fri Oct 21, 2011 10:08 pm

I'm recently married to my wife who is an American citizens. I am hoping to get my wife and son into the UK. We are both unemployed at present and I have no savings, but my wife has $20,000 in stocks. Would this money be enough for her and our son to be accepted? Thanks for any help.

It's not money; it's stock and therefore would need to be liquidated (or at least some part of it) if you expect to show this as your maintenance in lieu of a regular income cash flow. The actual amount of readily-available savings required for settlement applications in such circumstances is not tangible and would, arbitrarily, be based on the size of your family and your outgoing expenditure.
