Is religious only marriage valid?

Post by ibzo » Thu Jan 26, 2012 12:44 pm

my wife plans to submit the visa app form from jordan as iraq doesnt process spouse visas and we don't have a marriage certificate so were planning on getting an official marriage certificate from jordan. It has now come to my attention that jordan don't do civil marriages, just religious marriages, so if I get an islamic marriage contact done in jordan is that sufficient?
Also, Where should I get it translated?

Thanks

Also when we do get married, we are planning on applying straight awa, this would mean we will apply when it says on her iraqi id that she is single. Is that ok considering we have a marriage certificate to prove the marriage?[/img]

when i came to the uk i had a valid passport since i was single so it was fine
