Sri Lankan Spouse

Post by blacktop » Fri Aug 25, 2006 12:08 am

Hi Everyone,
I have married a Sri lankan girl, and now have problems getting her into Britain. I met her while i was doing Tsunami relief work, and then returned to plan the wedding while i was on a round the world tour, my major problem is that i left Britain at the end of 2001 to go live in Spain, so have had no records of my living in the UK since then, i went back this year and married her, and now am back in Britain living with my father, i just started a job, so this is a start to my bringing her here.
Do i need to have my own home, or is it ok if my father rights a letter saying that he is agreeable to her coming, he owns the house, and it has 5 bedrooms. Is it better for me to have my own place with bills etc... or is this not that necessary.
All my money is spent on my tour around the world, what sort of bank balance should i have before we make a application.
Any help you can offer will be greatfully received.

Please spend a couple of hours looking through this section of the Board. You will find all the information you need is already there. Your situation is not unique.

Thankyou John, I have realised that my situation is not unique, just wondered if there was any short cuts. could you point me in the right direction for what is needed in the sponsor letter, i have no idea how to right one, or what they expect to hear from me.

Go to this UKVisas webpage and then download the VAF2 application form and the INF4 guidance notes.
