Certified copy of passport

Post by londumpster » Tue Feb 21, 2012 7:04 pm

Hello everybody

I have read a few posts on this forum mentioning that we need to submit a certified copy of the passport which needs to be done through a solicitor.

I have gone through the UKBA website guidance documents but cant find any reference to this requirement.

Can you please point me in the right direction as my wife will be applying for settlement visa in the next few days.

Many thanks.

Regards

Hi

Since as a sponsor you will not be submitting your passport with the application it is wise to attach a certified copy of the BIO page witht he application.

You can get this certified by any solicitor for a price around of £10.

Why only certified Bio page?, what about the rest of pages with visas, entry and exit stamps in them which is good evidence that the couple have met etc.

I have known several people to have been refused visas because they did not send copies of above, so my advise is to send copies of even blank ones, so as not to give the ECO the opportunity to refuse for a petty reason

there's no need to send copies of blank pages, I agree that sending copies of pages with stamps/visas - particularly if they are evidence of contact between the sponsor and applicant are advisable. Obviously if the sponsor is not British but has ILR a certified copy of the ILR vingette/status document should also be provided.

Hi batleykhan

yes, as much evidence as possible to show the relationship.

I only certified my BIO page from the passport and photocopied all other VISA/entry/exit pages (non-certified) to show that I travelled.

Hopefully the non-certified copies would work to show that I travelled, but yes if you can certification of all pages does not hurt.
