My husbands visa is valid until 03.11.2017. We are looking for him to travel on the 1.11.2017. Is this ok? My father seems to think he should come earlier it's leaving it too late! However I think he just needs to be in the UK by the 3.11.2017. Can someone please advise?

What happens when he gets to the UK? is there something we have to collect from the post office?

He can arrive in the UK at any point before the 3rd November but not later than that date.

Once he is in the UK, he needs to collect his BRP card from the Post Office which will be his visa.

So if he arrives on the 1st, we can just walk into the post office on the 2nd and collect this?

Do I need to inform, them beforehand/make an appointment?

No need to inform them but worth checking to see if it is there. The requirement is to collect the BRP within 10 days of arriving in the UK. The passport with the 30 day visa must also be take to the Post Office to confirm identity.
