I visited my boyfriend in the US for three months on the VWP earlier this year. This time he wants to come and visit me here in Australia, but would like to experience what it's like to work here too.
I have read the Aussie immigration website, talked to an operator and concluded that the Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) Visa would be the most appropriate for him. However I'm displeased about the idea of having to wait yet another three months for the application to process (as told over the phone). I've been away from him for nearly half a year now, I miss the man dearly! I made a bunch of other frantic searches online and there are some people out there claiming that they were granted this particular visa in less than a week. One of them claimed she received it within 12 hours! Is this even possible? On the website it states all processing times online (for US citizens only) are usually within 48 hours, could this mean it is then possible for my boyfriend to receive it so soon?
Are there any US citizens currently in Oz on the 462? If so please do tell me how long it took for you to receive that visa. It would be greatly appreciated - thank you for any help at all
