General Visitor Visa for Parents from Chennai

Post by abkarthik » Tue Apr 08, 2014 12:22 pm

Hi,

I am currently residing in Edinburgh on a Tier 2 ICT Long Term visa and my parents are planning to visit me for couple of months after June. My father is retired and my mother is a Central Government Employee. She has got No Objection Certificate from her office for the purpose of travel outside India. They are going to use their own funds for travel and they will be living with me at my 2 bedroom house.

We are planning to submit the following documents:
1. NOC from Mom's office
2. Mom's 6 months pay slip
3. Bank PPF statement containing last 6 months entry
4. Couple other bank account statements.
5. Mom's salary account statement for the last 6 months
6. Invitation Letter from my side detailing that they will be staying with me.
7. Passport/ BRP copy from my side
8. Tenancy agreement with letting agent from my side

Can you please help me out with the following queries?

1. Do you see any other document that we might need to provide other than the above?
2. Since they are going to apply visa at the same time, how the financial statements should be provided. Do they have to provide distinct separate set of documents?
3. Invitation Letter has to be physically signed and sent in original or signed and scanned copy is ok?
4. Do the documents that my parents need to submit be in original or copy?
5. Sample invitation letter for my scenario (i.e Trip funded by visitors themselves with only accomodation provided from my side)
6. Anything else obvious I am missing?

Any help will be highly regarded.

Thanks
Karthik

Dear abkarthik,

I'm in the same situation as yours. Have you applied for the visa for your parents? Can you please let me know what are the documents we would need? Many thanks!!

Hi abkarthik,

Thanks for the reply. I hope your parents get their visas stamped.

I'm a bit confused about the sponsor/invitation letter. Is it something that we write on our own or is there any specific format for this?

For e.g., I came across a document like this - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... p-form.pdf

Is this the one you used?

Thanks.
