Going for a two week holiday after applying for citizenship

Post by Alto1000 » Wed Sep 03, 2014 11:09 pm

Hi All

I heard if I apply for British citizenship, I am not allowed to leave the UK at all as it might cause me to re-apply ??

I am Hungarian and living and working in the UK for 7 years. I got my exams, etc all forms, so now booking an appointment at the local nationality check office where I would post my application from.

Again the question is : can I leave the UK after I applied? We would go for two weeks holiday 2 weeks after the application been submitted, and also 3 months after the app submitted (christmas family visit).

Kind Regards,
Thomas

You are free to travel once you have submitted your application.

Dont post.. book an appoinment at your local NCS ...
With post you have to send all your documents and presently it is taking long time to return your original docs..

At NCS.. they give back all the docs on same day..

Till you receive an approval letter you are fine to visit MARS as well
when you receive your approavl you then have to book your appointment with in 2 weeks (approx) for ceremony... you can book your ceremony 90 days from the date of approval .. and you are fine to raom till ceremony.. wherever u are then...come back and attend cermony.. ceremony can be done in another countries as well.. not just UK... ..
If you are in UK and if your country supports dual nationality u will have no issues even after ceremony I think..

At the current time it is taking up to 3 months to get
an approval..

Even during Christmas.. you are fine to travel if your holiday is not more than couple of weeks.. ask your neightbour or your frnd to keep an eye on post box ...alternatively call your NCS to know if approval letter has been posted to you or not and book a ceremony on phone....

Thanks for the comments.
I will use ncs and will travel home almost straight after for two weeks. In this case all cool!
My friends recently had to wait approx 6 months for the approval. Doesnt matter for actually just got confused by travel as some say you shouldnt leave the UK at all. But i assume now thats all "gossip"
