Do you want to apply for a settlement visa for your Mother in Law to live here permanently????

Virtually impossible to get and only 1 or 2 successful applications since the rules changed in July 2012!!

CR001 is correct. Unless you can prove your mother-in-law meets the following mandatory conditions the application will be refused:

You need long-term personal care to perform every day tasks, such as washing and cooking.
The care you need is not available in the country where you are living, either because it is not available and there is no person in the country where you are living who can reasonably provide it or it is not affordable.

Unfortunately not. Visitor visas as you probably know, don't allow long term stay in the UK. Also bear in mind that if you apply for a elderly dependent visa and it is refused, this will have an adverse affect on any future visitor visa applications.
