Thinking Of Moving To Canada

Post by jayd » Sat Sep 08, 2007 11:08 am

Hi all, my wife and I recently have decided we want to try and move to Canada, once she has completed her University course. She currently works has a Trainee Practioner, ( 2 years left on her course ) having previously been an Auxiliary Nurse for 5 years. I myself have been a Train Driver for 2 years, 7 years in total in the rail industry. I have some questions, maybe some people can help me with.

1) How long should I leave it before applying. we was thinking of moving in aprrox 4-5 years time, once my wife has finished her course, and worked in her proffession for at least 24 months ?

2) I would like to stay in my proffession as a Train Driver, does Canada see this as a skilled job, as they do in the UK ?

3) How hard is it to find a job on the rail industry in Canada ?

4) We was thinking of either moving to Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton, which of these places would best suit us, so we can work in the proffessions we already follow ?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated. :D

Who is the principal applicant? Have you checked the NOC list?

If you meet all the requirements to pass the points threshold now, without her university course, you should apply now as the wait is currently going to be around five years. You can update her qualifications when you get the 90-day letter in around three years time.

If she needs to complete the course to get enough points, you cannot apply until she has the proof of qualification. You have to meet the minimum number of points required at the time of simplified worker application.
