Currently on FLR(M) visa, separated temporarily for 3 months

Post by Prince74 » Sun Jan 11, 2015 2:05 pm

I am currently on spouse visa FLR(M) which is due for renewal in June 2016. I had marital problems with my partner (the sponsor) and while going through mediation/counselling we separated for 3 months. During the period of separation the Home Office was not notified and my letters, bank statements and utility bills were still going to the address which we shared. My partner is in full time education and I am the main breadwinner. Whilst temporarily separated my partner claimed housing benefit and in the application form she stated that she was separated from me.

We've now settled our marital problems and now back together. She has stopped claiming housing benefit since I returned to the matrimonial home.

Will the fact that she claimed housing benefit for three months during our separation affect my visa renewal in June 2016?

That shouldn't affect your renewal, she's got right to actually claim all that tbh, anyone can correct me if I'm wrong. It would have been a different case if you were the one claiming.
Moreover, she's stopped claiming, I don't think it should in any way.
