Child Passport Application

Post by Mas18 » Tue Jan 13, 2015 5:16 pm

Hi

I received my Naturalisation approval on 9th Dec 2014 and the earliest date I got for my ceremony was 8th Jan 2015. Now I have got my Naturalisation certificate dated 8th Jan 2015.

But on 28th Dec our baby was born in the UK. I want to apply for his British Passport since I am British now. Am I eligible to apply for his passport keeping in my mind I got my Citizenship on 8th Jan 2015?

Your response/suggestion would be helpful.

You are only British once you attend the ceremony not from date of approval letter.

However, as you must have had ILR when the baby was born, the baby is automatically British as you were 'settled'.

Am I correct in understanding that the baby is not automatically British but they have to be registered as British if the parents were settled at the time of birth?
Automatically British would have been when the parents were also British at the time of birth.

or have I been wrong all the time? :D

It seems like you have been wrong all the time :D The baby is british by birth if the parents have settled status (ILR).
