Congrats!

You need to renew the visa in 2.5 years and to do so you will need to meet the financial requirement again and show proof living together which would be 6 letters from government departments, NHS, bank, etc addressed to both of you or 6 letters addressed to each of you.

After 5 years you can apply for indefinite leave to remain (same requirements I believe) and then British Citizen after that if you wish.

Congratulations.

As mentioned, you are on a 5 year path to settlement. At 2.5 years, you will extend the visa and at 5 year, you will apply for ILR.

My advice is get the Life in the UK test done at the earliest convenience between now and long before your ILR. This isn't required until you apply for ILR in 5 years, however, it has no expiry date so can be taken at any time. Don't end up like many people who have left it till the last minute and then couldn't get a date in time, pass first time, was late for the test, didn't have the right documents or any other reason, then picnicked and had to apply for an extension instead of ILR so they could pass the LIUK.

Its a good idea to download the FLR(M) form and its corresponding guidance from the gov website so it gives you a good idea of the requirements and documents needed for when you apply for an extension in 2.5 years.

Congrats and good luck on your journey ahead. I see you have already received good advice.

It is really appreciated as you are already planning for future.

Now please do go through the FAQ especially Q14 in this thread for naturalisation. This has been ameneded very recently and affects naturalisation applicants.

You can travel when you want but you'll have to apply for a Schengen visa until you've been granted British Citizenship.
