Birth certificate of employee?

According to the guidance, a passport and a birth certificate prove right to work in the UK.
Do we have to provide both, or will a passport be enough?

From the case worker's guidance:


The applicant must provide a copy of the employee’s:
 passport, including the page containing the employee’s personal details and the page
with the UK government stamp or endorsement, if appropriate.
 birth certificate showing the name of at least one parent.
