Hi all
Having been through the spouse visa route for my wife previously, I've been helping my brother get his application together for his intended. However, in his case, there was something I wanted to clarify since I haven't come across any information on this forum to help answer it.
Brief synopsis:
- He is a UK national
- She is Pakistani with a Pakistani passport. However, she was born in Kenya and has thus held a Kenyan passport in the past(now expired)
- She splits her time between Pakistan and Tanzania (where her family spend most of their time). She has a Tanzanian long term visa which runs until Nov 2016
- They plan to get married in Pakistan in July (religious ceremony - at which point they are recognized as married) but bigger event will be held in Pakistan in December
- They intend to submit their spouse visa application in July (or soon after once the marriage certificate comes through) as they will be legally married at that stage
- There are very long lead times in Pakistan for processing spouse visas - typically 4-6 months. Tanzania (where applications are actually routed via Kenya) takes about 3 - 4 weeks
So the question is this - can anyone see any issues with them getting married in Pakistan, but applying for the spouse visa from Tanzania?
From everything I've seen online, as long as her visa is long term in nature, there doesn't seem to be a barrier to applying from Tanzania. However, I wonder whether this would arouse suspicion/confusion (Pakistani national, Tanzanian visa, Pakistani Marriage certificate, applying from Tanzania) in an otherwise straightforward case.
Just to be clear, they meet all other criteria (financial, requirement on having met, etc)
thanks in advance
